African Roads.

African Roads, the current exhibition at the Musee Quai Branly in Paris (till November 17th) has some wonderful things to see. It traces numerous routes through the African continent; trade routes with evidence of fabrics, perfumes, spices, jewellery, porcelain, funerary objects, early manuscripts, plants and medicines; colonial routes with their slaves, missionaries and distant royalty; and finishing up with contemporary connections; the influence on modern artists like Giacometti and Picasso. Finally the exhibition bears witness to the traffic of refugees today.
